The MG14 is an Ideal intermediate class, with many crews 'graduating' through
junior classes such as Flying Ants, Flying Elevens and Sabots on route to
senior skiffs, and now the 49er.
However, the class Is equally attractive to those scaling back from the
physically and financially demanding classes, with many crews being made up of
'ex skiffies' who are now sailing with their wives or children.
The most recent major development in the class has been the introduction of an
asymmetric spinnaker which is extremely user-friendly. Members can now
enjoy the excitement of spinnaker sailing without the hassles of a spinnaker
pole.
The MG14 and NS14 classes share a common set of hull, sail and equipment
measurement restrictions, except for the spinnaker and trapeze on the MG14
only, so it is readily possible to move from one class to the other, or to sail
as both classes on different days.Association Events
National Championships, State Championships and a handicap based Touring Trophy
series are conducted throughout the season. Training days are also arranged.
