MG14 AGM Report
New Committee Elected for the NSW Association
(John hicky)

A combination of “new blood” and experienced “old hands” were elected to the 08/09 Executive Committee of the NSW MG14 Association at its AGM at Gosford on Saturday 5 April.

Gary Reeves of St George SC accepted the Presidency, succeeding Rob Morton. Gary has always been one of the stalwarts of the class, and has twice previously been President.

Mike Slee of Balmoral took one of the available Vice President positions.

Phil Moore of Toronto SC was reelected Secretary, continuing his run of many years providing great service to the class.

Lindsay Mason of St George was reelected as Treasurer..

Bob Taig of Toronto will continue to do the web work and will now also be the Race Secretary.

Mirko Cairoli of St George succeeds Gary Reeves as Association Registrar.

John Hickey of Toronto is Publicity Officer.

The position of Measurer is yet to be filled.

Reports included a sailing review of the past season and the upcoming season, including the Nationals to be held at Toronto. Lindsay reported on the finances, with healthy balances in both the investment and operating accounts.

Greg Roche had also prepared a written report on the development of the MGB during the season, with input from Gary Reeves and John Hickey.

There was strong support for the MGB as part of the future of the Class. The Committee will consider recommendations to include the MGB’s more formally in Association events during next season. There appears to be a number of sailors now actively considering the acquisition of an MGB rig for next season.

The AGM concluded with presentation of the trophies for the Association events for the season:

NSW State Title – Scratch:
  1. “Water Rat”, Lindsay Mason and Daniel McLachlan, St George SC.
  2. “Xanadu”, Gary Reeves and Paul Tyson, St George SC.
  3. “Filthy Fase”, Bob Taig and Dylan Moore.
NSW State Title – Handicap:
  1. “Blew True”, Kerry Beattie and Michael Foster, Balmoral SC.
Touring Trophy – Teralba and Sunshine Weekends – Handicap Event
  1. “Filthy Fase”, Bob Taig and Dylan Moore.

Congratulations to all the winners and to all the sailors that participated in Association events across the season!!
